India has been witnessing 11 players on the field since 1932, going through ups and downs, fans have seen so many wins and losses. In 1971, that was the first time India witnessed the victory in history when India wined the test series in the West Indies under the captaincy of Ajit Wadekar. It was also the first time Sunil Gavaskar made the crowd go wild by overpowering the cricket world. Cricket’s hype was at its peak when India won World Cup in 1983, under the captaincy of Kapil Dev who changed the whole picture of cricket for today’s generation.

Sachin Tendulkar was the shining star of cricket in the ’90s, in 2002, Wisden cricketer’s almanac ranked him the second-greatest ODI batsman of all the time.

  • INDIA REGISTERED THE WIN AGAINST WEST INDIES, 1971

During the period of the ’70s and ’80s West Indies was the god of cricket, but that summer India broke the ice by tasting the flavour of victory under the captaincy of Ajit Wadekar, the match was also the debut of Sunil Gavaskar. India won the series by 1-0, Now, it has been forty-five years since India won on the pitch of England.

  • WHEN INDIA WON THE FIRST WORLD CUP,1983

In 1983 Indians got goosebumps, when the captain of the Indian cricket team Kapil Dev brings home the world cup for the first time in the Indian history of cricket. The final match was with the West Indies, Kapil Dev scored 183 runs, and India shook the world by beating the world-class team West Indies. That was the time when cricket became a religion in India uniting people irrespective of the background.

  • WHEN INDIA WON THE NEWEST TROPHY AGAINST ENGLAND, 2002

The epic moment no one can forget ever when Sourav Ganguly was twirling his shirt in the air while dancing on the balcony when India won the finals against England. That day England had won the toss and picked to bat first, and scored 325 runs for 5 in the 50 over’s. But when Ganguly and Virender Sehwag walked in the ground they changed the whole scene by making a century in partnership. India loosed hope when Sachin got out with just 14 runs, the whole of India was praying for the victory. However, Harbhajan and Mohammad Kaif made their way to the trophy with their heroic batting, India won the game by two wickets. Indians cried the tear of joy, the whole nation was dancing just like Sourav Ganguly.

  • WHEN INDIA WON THE WORLD CUP AGAIN, 2011

When the world cup returned to India after 15 years! India won the world cup by beating Sri Lanka to the ground at the Wankhede stadium. It was the last world cup of Sachin Tendulkar, this match emotionally charged the whole stadium with lots of tears in the crowds’ eyes, the players darted towards Dhoni when he stroked six on the last ball.

After the match, the whole team lifted Sachin in the air and circled the whole ground, while Virat said “ Tendulkar has carried the burden of the nation for 21 years; it was time we carried him, Chak de India!”
