Aamir Khan recalls that he met Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra at a party and they warned him about ‘making a mistake’ before leaving for the shooting of the film ‘Lagaan’. They were dubious of his decision to shoot the film in a single schedule but he went ahead with his intuition.

The plot of the film, starring Aamir Khan and Gracy Singh, was the story of the people in a small village in India, devastated by drought and burdened by taxes who stakes their future on a game of cricket against their ruthless British rulers. Lagaan was nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 74th Academy Awards.
Bollywood Hungama quoted the actor as said in a media interaction that “I remember I met Karan Johar and Adi (Aditya Chopra) at a party just a few days before the outdoor and they told me I was making a big mistake. They advised me to not shoot in a single schedule. They said it will become a mess but I stuck to my guts. And today both Adi and Karan are doing sync sound and single schedule”.
Aamir Khan revealed that when the director gave narration of the film, he felt that it was ‘too complex’ and was hesitant to do it at first. Moreover, he not only did the lead role but also produced the film under his banner Aamir Khan Productions.
