Debuting with a romantic film gives the assurance of a successful debut. Whether it is Deepika Padukone or Janhvi Kapoor, they chose a romantic film full of drama, or action as their first film and taste the success. It is also believed that romance is one of the safest bets in Bollywood. However, there are a few brave actors who broke the mold and it paid off. 

Here is the list of actors who proved that no romantic film is necessary to make a successful debut.

  1. Sushant Singh Rajput

The actor who started his career as a TV actor stepped in Bollywood with Kai Po Che which was a story of three friends and set against the backdrop of serious problems in Gujarat with an angle of cricket attached to the character of Sushant. The outstanding Sushant even didn’t have a dance number in the film.

  1. Fatima Sana Shaikh

The girl who started her career as a child actor appeared alongside Aamir Khan in Dangal. In her first film, she played the role of a wrestler. Along with Fatima, Sanya Malhotra too began her career with this film.

His debut was marked as an impressive one. In his first film, the actor played a baddie and it was Ram Gopal Verma’s Company. He had a romantic side in the film but the story wasn’t a romantic one.

Talented actor began his acting career with Neerja as an antagonist of the film. He was praised for his exceptional acting. Later, his stint in Padmaavat and Sanju too were appreciated.

The Punjabi film superstar Diljit Dosanjh debuted in Bollywood with a non-conventional film i.e., Udta Punjab. It was a dark film and set against the background of Punjab substance problem.

The talented young actor who did a splendid job in his debut film Mardaani. He played the role of an antagonist in Rani’s film. Without any romance, drama, added fluff, he was noticed in the film and proved himself an actor of a very high caliber.
