Tushar Hiranandani’s movie Saandh Ki Aankh’s trailer featuring Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar recently dropped on Youtube and has been the talk of the town ever since. The 30-something actresses have stepped into the shoes of sharpshooters Chandro Tomar and Prakshi Tomar who learnt shooting at the age of 60.

The transformation of Bhumi and Taapsee with the use of prosthetics and makeup has been a sight to behold, at least what it looks like in the trailer. However, actress Neena Gupta thinks that filmmakers should cast actresses like herself for the roles that are appropriate for their age.

The matter escalated on Twitter, just a day after Saand Ki Aankh’s trailer surfaced on Youtube, a user pointed out that why weren’t actresses such as Neena Gupta, Shabana Azmi or Jaya Bachchan selected for the film. To the give the man an applause, we too think that the film would have been a tad more realistic. However, makers of the film opted for younger actresses.

The user tweeted, “I love Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee but I kinda wish older actors were cast in these roles. Could you imagine Neena  Gupta and Shabana Azmi or Jaya Bachchan?”

To which, Neena Gupta replied, “Yes, I was just thinking about this. Hamari umar ke role toe kamsekam humse kara lo bhai (At least cast us for the role that suit our age)”. Moreover, Neena soon posted good luck messages for Bhumi and Taapsee.

She tweeted, “I liked the trailer, #SaandKiAankh and I have great respect for both the actors @bhumipednekar @taapsee chalo lets wish the film good luck also to #AnuragKashyap who I am very fond of, chalo apna time ayega (sic)”

The film is based on a real-life story of two women, Chandro Tomar and her sister-in-law Prakshi Tomar from Uttar Pradesh, who learned shooting at the age of 60. The movie is produced by Anurag Kashyap and is slated to hit theatres on October 25.
