On Kargil Vijay Diwas, as a form of tribute, Akshay Kumar took to social media and shared a video of a jawan yesterday. In the video, the army jawan is singing Teri Mitti from Akshay’s film Kesari.
Akshay captioned the video, “Came across this heart-warming video which made my day. When your small tribute reaches the people it’s meant for…what more can you ask for? A million salutes to our Bharat Ke Veer.”
Kargil Vijay Diwas, named after the successful Operation Vijay, is celebrated on July 26. Exactly 20 years ago on this date in 1999, India took command of the outposts that had been last to Pakistan.
Just a while back, while promoting Kesari, Akshay had spent time with jawans. He had posted a video where he is seen starting a mock fight with a woman BSF officer while the song Ajj Singh Garjega from Kesari plays in the background.
Akshay wrote, “Always a treat to meet the Jawans from @BSF_India. Their training, passion and enthusiasm is top-notch, always a learning experience. (sic).”

Akshay has always expressed his gratitude towards the armed forces. The actor also conceptualised Bharat Ke Veer – a website by the Government of India that allows people to make direct monetary donations to the families of martyred Indian paramilitary soldiers.
