Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa to get a remake after 12 years

Akshay Kumar and Vidhya Balan’s starrer hit film ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ which came out in 2007 is getting a sequel apparently, the reports suggest. While Priyadarshan was the director of the original, the new film, however, will be written and directed by Farhad Samji.

A report from Mumbai Mirror quoted, “Bhushan wanted to make a part 2 of Bhool Bhulaiyaa for a while now and has cracked an idea with Farhad Samji, who will be writing and directing the film. It is in the development stage and will feature a fresh cast. Once the final script is locked, the team will kick off casting and other pre-production formalities.”


It has been only a few days since the reports of T-series giving the new title ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ to the film came into the show. The original film is said to be an official remake of Tamil hit Chandramukhi starring Rajinikanth. Chandramukhi furthermore is again a remake of 1993 Malayalam film, Manichitrathazhu starring Mohanlal and Shobana.

Akshay Kumar is also working with director Rohit Shetty. He will be seen in his next Sooryavanshi alongside Katrina Kaif. He will be playing the role of a cop. In Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Akshay Kumar played the role of a Psychiatrist. The story revolves around a couple who come down to India to spend their holidays and later they settle down. Then the story starts and Vidhya Balan who plays the lead is confronted for having multiple personality disorder. Director Farhad is working with Akshay Kumar on Housefull 4 as well. He is also currently working on the writing for the films like Varun Dhawan, Sara Ali Khan starrer Coolie No 1, a remake of the David Dhawan, Govinda hit of the ’90s.
