A day after the Karni Sena asked that the title of Akshay Kumar’s next mythological film, “Prithviraj,” be changed, the film has now landed in two further controversies.
It would seem that the Akhil Bharatiya Veer Gurjar Mahasabha has an issue with the way that the warrior king from the 12th century is being portrayed. The organization declared that Prithviraj was a Gurjar and that he should be depicted in the film as such, and not as a Rajput; otherwise, the Mahasabha would not allow its distribution. If the film did not show Prithviraj as a Gurjar, the Mahasabha would not allow it to be released.
The state president of the Mahasabha in Rajasthan made the allegation that his organization had met with the film’s producer the previous year and even presented him with historical proof of the matter in order to correct the facts that were portrayed in his film. In addition to this, he said that the producer had given the Mahasabha his assurance that the movie would not include anything that would be offensive to the community.
In response to the appeal made by the Karni Sena, the community has requested that the name of the movie be modified so that the word “Samrat” comes before the name “Prithviraj.” They have decided that the name Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan should be used for the title of the film. If the title was not changed, the organization has said that it would not allow the movie to be shown in Rajasthan and would not provide permission for its distribution.
The film Prithviraj, which has been directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, is scheduled to be released on June 3rd, 2022.
