Owing to the pandemic, the release of a lot of songs had to be pushed to different dates, so as not to hamper business. Under similar circumstances, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’ is set to release on the same day as Aamir Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chadha’, i.e. August 11.

However, Akshay revealed that while the two films release on the same day, it cannot be termed as a clash. “It’s a big day. The film is releasing around the holidays, (the festival of) Raksha Bandhan will be around. Due to COVID-19, there are a lot of films that are waiting to be released,” the Special 26 actor stated. “Since there are so many films, it’s only natural that two films are releasing in one week. It’s not a clash, we are coming together, trying to bring our films to the people. I hope both the films have a good run,” he further added.

Raksha Bandhan centres around Raju, played by Akshay Kumar, a sweetshop owner who is struggling to get his four younger sisters married. The movie features Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna and Smrithi Srikanth in the role of Kumar’s on-screen sisters. The film also stars Bhumi Pednekar as the female lead opposite Kumar, and is to be directed by Aanand L Rai. ‘Raksha Bandhan’ marks the second collaboration of Kumar and Rai, after ‘Atrangi Re’.

Laal Singh Chaddha is the Indian adaption of Forrest Gump, which starred Hollywood star Tom Hanks, and along with Aamir Khan, it also stars actress Kareena Kapoor Khan.
