As the lockdown has been removed, many movies and shows have started filming again. The actors and actresses are getting back to work. One of these actors is Alia Bhat who has resumed filming for her upcoming film Gangubai Kathiawadi with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Due to the pandemic infused lockdown, the filming of the movie was halted. In the movie, Alia will be playing a gun-wielding brothel owner in the film.

At the beginning of 2020, the first look of the movie was unveiled. The filming started very well and the set of the movie was quite elaborate. The set was created at Mumbai’s film city, but it all went in vain due to the lockdown.

As per the report given by Mid Day, the filming of the movie has started after nearly seven months. At 7 pm, Alia and the crew of the movie were reported. A close source informed that “To maintain continuity, Sanjay sir picked up filming exactly from where he had left it. Since October 1, Alia and the team have been reporting to the set by 7 pm, and the stint goes on till the wee hours of the morning. Although a part of the grand set had been pulled down ahead of the monsoons, the portion resembling Kamathipura had been left untouched. So, the director has been able to film without any hiccup.”

Meanwhile, Gangubai Kathiawadi has been adapted from one of the chapters of Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai. In this biographical drama will see Alia as Gangubai Kothewali, a fierce brothel owner who was rumoured to have had gangsters as her clients.

Alia is doing a lot of hard work for her role in the movie. While the filming is taking place, she will simultaneously undertake the month-long diction class, to give her audience a powerful performance.
