A producer would have to think twice before signing Amitabh Bachchan is his/her project, given the fees. But what happens when the megastar decided to waiver off his fees. Sheer luck, wouldn’t that be? Precisely what producer Anand Pandit felt when Amitabh not only agreed to do the film for free, but also funded his travel for the portion of the film to be shot in Poland.

The actor was so impressed with the script, that he decided he’d do it for free. History does repeat itself, at least for Amitabh, because this has also happened before. It is a known fact that he has also done Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black without taking a single penny. The very thought of working with a director of much caliber as Bhansali, was enough for Amitabh to go ahead with the movie. For his role as a tutor to a deaf-mute girl, played by Rani Mukherjee, Amitabh Bachchan won the National Award.

Amitabh was very vocal about this on his blog, which he’d written on the occasion of Black completing 17 years. He wrote “I had just wanted to work with Sanjay, after seeing all his other works he had done… And when the opportunity came it was quite overwhelming. I did not take any salary for the film… Just being a part of such an enterprise, was sufficient fees!”
