Fans and family members of Sushant Singh Rajput had experienced a difficult year. For those who have followed the show for Manav and Archana since the actor’s death last year, the release of Pavitra Rishta’s web version is heartbreaking (played by Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande). Shaheer Sheikh is taking over as Manav as Ankita reprises her role in the web programme. While fans of the show are anxious to watch the next chapter in this love tale, some viewers have called for a boycott, arguing that no one can ever replace Sushant in the starring role. They’ve also accused the show’s creators of manipulating the situation by resurrecting it.
Ankita Lokhande recently spoke with indianexpress.com on the personal and professional bullying she has faced. “That’s their wish,” she says, noting that she doesn’t want to remark on those who want to boycott the show.
She does, however, have a lovely message for those who have been waiting for the programme. “There are a lot of individuals who adore Archana and Manav. And I’m grateful for their kindness in showering us with love. We were given the opportunity to entertain them once more. Pavitra Rishta is about love and has lovely thoughts associated to it, not just for myself but for many others in the audience. I’m hoping people enjoy the show once more and treat us with the same respect,” she said.
Ankita claimed that negativity has become a part of social media, despite her hesitation to speak about the trolling she suffered after Sushant’s death. “To be honest, social media has brought us closer to our followers, but it also brings with it a lot of trolling. Everyone, at the end of the day, has a choice. She added that Ankita can’t just go about telling people how lovely she is and how much they should love me. I’ll go about my business, unconcerned with what others think of me. I’ve never done it before. My family is my strength, and with their help, I can fight anything or anyone.”
