AR Rahman’s Teen Student Lydian Wins US Reality Show, Bags 1 Million Dollar Prize

AR Rahman’s teen student, Lydian Nadhaswaram, a teen pianist from Chennai has won the American reality show The World’s Best. The 13- year-old is being praised by AR Rahman for being such a piano prodigy. Lydian won a million dollars for his performance on the reality show.

Lydian is son of Tamil music director Varshan Satish. He has also defeated South Korea’s Kukkiwon aka The Flying Taekwondo Masters to win the coveted title and the cash prize of a whopping USD 1 million.

In an interview, Lydian told, “It was really good performing in a huge international platform. I practiced a lot for the competition.”

The young pianist also made his debut on The Ellen Show. Ellen DeGeneres also shared a video on Facebook that features Lydian playing piano blindfolded. The video has gone viral with over 2.6 million views. Lydian stunned the audience which such a marvelous performance.

Moreover, Lydian is a student of Chennai based KM Music Conservatory that is run by AR Rahman. Lydian is looking forward to scoring music for movies, whereas AR Rahman has different plans for the young prodigy.

Rahman told, “I want him to become like the Lang Lang for India,” referring to the Chinese pianist, adding that Oscar was not an ultimate goal.

The young prodigy who he called an “ambassador” for Chennai and India was also asked about what he wants to do with his hefty win. To which he said that he wants to practice and learn more.

In the same interview, when Rahman was asked about the criticism that he faced on social media for allegedly forcing his daughter Khatija to wear a niqaab at an event, he said, “In today’s time, everybody knows what to do. Everybody knows what to choose. It’s good for everybody.”
