Armaan Kohli has filed a bail plea, and his hearing is set for this afternoon. His bail in the drug consumption and possession case had previously been denied by the court. Kohli, along with numerous others, was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in August in connection with a drug case, and was charged with multiple provisions of the NDPS Act (Narcotics, Drugs, and Psychotropic Substances).
Despite a lack of confirmation, the actor is expected to seek bail on the grounds that his elderly parents, producer Raj Kumar Kohli and his wife Nishi, are financially dependent on him.
The NCB has stated that Armaan is facing significant charges, and that in addition to consumption, he is facing a number of other counts. The NCB has launched a zero-tolerance drug campaign and has carried out a number of searches to rid the city of the problem. “There is zero tolerance, but it does not mean we are going after only one business,” Sameer Wankhede, Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau, said of the likelihood of future raids targeting those within the Bollywood industry.
Wankhede explains. that we’re concerned primarily about NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act violations.” The NCB, on the other hand, currently has three actors in its custody. “For us, it is about whoever is breaching the NDPS statute; we are not going after a certain industry.”
