TVF premiered its new show Aspirants in April, with the season finale on May 8. The episode, which follows three friends as they attempt to clear the UPSC exam and their preparation, became an instant hit. Sunny Hinduja’s portrayal of Sandeep Bhaiya struck a chord with the audience more than the show’s three leading actors, Naveen Kasturia, Shivankit Parihar, and Abhilash Thapliyal.
Sunny is still surprised by the positive response to his character but insists that he was confident in the show’s success. He believes that 50% of the job was done but to the well-written script and so, with the production and everyone giving in their best, it resulted in success.
Sunny believes that people could relate with his character because it depicted the struggle of a middle-class man, who has duties towards his family, but at the same time has to juggle it with his own dreams and aspirations, as in the case of a majority of Indians. The actor says that the character of Sandeep Bhaiya taught him, and will teach the audience that, “sacrificing your friends, family and loved ones for your dreams is not worth it. You might get to the top, but you won’t have anyone to celebrate it with. Who will be the one to take pride in you?”
According to Sunny, his favorite feedbacks and reactions from fans were in the form of beautiful emotional paintings, as well as a fan’s feeling of Sunny sitting next to him while he watched the show. Another fan said that had the show been in theatre, the audience would have whistled and cheered when Sandeep Bhaiya came in the last episode. Sunny’s character solved a fan’s life mantra.
Sunny revealed that his close school friend, Varun Chauhan, who was the first to know about Sunny’s dreams, was a UPSC aspirant, and through him, he met many others as well, one of whom (now IPS Officer) texted him saying that the show made him see his life of the past 10-15 years.
The actor said that they had a virtual celebration considering the two recent successes, and he really hoped that the conditions would improve, as well as, hoped for the success of Family Man 2. About season 2 of Aspirants, he said that it has not been discussed but the makers had a plan already. He concluded by saying that, “one should see as many dreams as possible, work for it, have a passion for it and be patient, but if it doesn’t happen still, one shouldn’t make it an endpoint of life. You accept wherever you are and what you get in life, but don’t stop dreaming for bigger things.”
