Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has again been caught under legal proceedings. In the new development between her case with author Ashish Kaul, the writer has filed a contempt in the Bombay High Court, a few days ago. The petition is against Kangana for lying in court.
Ashish Kaul’s representing advocate Adnan Shaikh and Adv Yogita Joshi said that ‘we served a letter to Javed Akhtar Ji and found out through his reply that there was concealing of facts in the Passport Application and this is a serious offence. We are duty-bound to bring this to the notice of the Hon’ble High Court and if fraud committed upon the court is established then there are bound of being repercussions.”
Lyricist Javed Akhtar had filed an intervention plea accusing Kangana Ranaut of deliberately failed to disclose facts in order to obtain a favourable order for passport renewal. She hasn’t disclosed all the cases filed against her in various courts. Although a few days back news said that the Bombay High Court had refused to hear Javed Akhtar’s interim plea, where he alleged that Kangana Ranaut had concealed information from the court about an impending defamation case that he had filed against the actress.
As an answer to this Ranaut had filed a plea in a Mumbai court seeking exemption from personal appearance in the defamation case filed by poet Javed Akhtar. But the honourable court had directed her to remain present on the next date of hearing without fail. The Magistrate also rejected the plea filed by Javed Akhtar’s lawyer, seeking the issuance of an arrest warrant against Ranaut.
Meanwhile, author Ashish Kaul had filed a copyright infringement case against Kangana Ranaut for the film ‘Manikarnika Returns: The Legends of Didda, Kaul has also made it clear that he will be opposing any relief to Ranaut in the copyright case. In return, Kangana and her brother Akshat Ranaut have filed a petition in the Bombay High Court to quash the FIR against them in the said case.
