After witnessing an average weekend, Shahid Kapoor, Yami Gautam, and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Batti Gul Meter Chalu is holding well in the weekdays but on the lower side.
The social drama earned Rs 2.91 crore yesterday and currently stand with the grand total of Rs 29.33 crore.
In total, the overall response is just not too good and we need to say that Batti Gul Meter Chalu is turning out to be a substandard affair.
Eyeing the existing state, the movie is likely to make Rs 35 crore during its opening week at the ticket windows.
Honestly, the flick is just having two days to achieve at the box office as Varun-Anushka’s Sui Dhaaga: Made In India and Sanya-Radhika’s Pataakha will reach theaters after that Batti Gul Meter Chalu will confront a huge rivalry at the box office.
The flick has bagged mixed assessments from the film fans and the Shahid’s recital has been praised by one and all.
Our reviewer Dishya Sharma gave the movie 2.5 stars and wrote, “The story has loopholes and is extremely slow. While Shahid tries his best to keep the batti chalu, the lights of this movie keep flickering and doesn’t give the shock it was meant to deliver. If you’re a Shahid Kapoor fan, the film is a treat. Otherwise, you could give this movie a skip.”
Shahid said that the emotional journey he experiences when he alone contributes a lot to the evolution of the performer in him.
“As an actor you are always lonely. You are always in the spotlight so that’s what people see. But when you are on your own, it’s very lonely. And it’s a journey that’s personal. I believe, at that time, something emotional happens which reflects in my performance,” Shahid added.
“What actors do is, we emote. So, the more there is inside, the more there is to throw out. I have learned to channelise that, which I believe is very important for a long-lasting career. Otherwise, this is a very jumpy job. You are constantly up there, down here. So you try to find that nice place which is your own and just keep that intact,” he added.
