Kabir Khan’s upcoming directorial project 83, a movie based on the Indian cricket squad’s world cup triumph in the year 1983, has been hitting headlines for a moment.

The film star Ranveer Singh has been sharing images from the film sets. In actual fact, Ranveer, who will be seen donning the role of Kapil Dev in movie, gets training by Kapil himself, on the turf and in the nets. Indeed, Kapil has on separate instances conveyed his pleasure regarding the casting verdict of Ranveer Singh.

But, a recent report stated that ahead of movie maker Kabir Khan accepted the reigns for 83, it was set to be helmed by Sanjay Pooran Singh. And, Sanjay wished to direct actor Randeep Hooda to don the character of Kapil Dev.

Randeep’s look examination took place as well and the film makers were satisfied. But, because of conditions, Sanjay was no longer attached to the big film and neither was Randeep Hooda.

As per reports, “Before Ranveer Singh, the role was offered to actor Randeep Hooda. This was when the film was to be directed by Sanjay Pooran Singh. This was formally announced and the look test was done too. But due to some circumstances, the project went into the hands of Kabir Khan and Ranveer bagged the role.”

83 also has Saqib Saleem, who will don the character of the Indian all-rounder Mohinder Amarnath whilst star Tahir Raj Bhavin is set to represent Sunil Gavaskar, the ‘Little Master’.

Besides, other actors in the movie comprise R Badree, Harrdy Sandhu, Chirag Patil, Pankaj Tripathi, Ammy Virk and Saahil Khattar.

Tripathi will play the character of cricket team manager Man Singh and at a current media meet, he shared some details regarding the movie and his character.

“The filming experience is wonderful. We just came back from Dharamshala. We practiced there and we got along very well with the cast and crew. This film will be a big entertaining spectacle,” Tripathi said.
