Saaho has had an excellent first week at the box office. The Hindi version of the action thriller, headlined by Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor, collected in the range of Rs 6.50 crore-Rs 7 crore on Thursday, thereby ending its Week 1 with total business of nearly Rs 115 crore. The film, a report claims, was hit hard by rains on Wednesday and therefore, faced a heavy drop. However, by staying steady on Thursday, it kind of compensated for that loss.
The circuits such as Delhi/UP and East Punjab, which usually do not respond well to South Indian films, are contributing well to Saaho, which is great news. The report claims that the film is better in these regions than even the recently-released Mission Mangal. In fact, its first-week collection is higher than the eight-day collection of the Akshay Kumar-starrer.

Saaho, written and directed by Sujeeth, also stars Neil Nitin Mukesh, Jackie Shroff, Mahesh Manjrekar, Arun Vijay, Murali Sharma and Mandira Bedi in important roles, among others. The film, made on a budget of about Rs 350 crore, is among the costliest India has ever produced.
Prabhas’ film was not received well by film critics, most of whom noted that it had a confusing screenplay and that the performances were not up to the mark either. The word of mouth was not flattering either. The audience’s sheer craving for a big-screen spectacle that Saaho is, appears to have worked in its favour.

Meanwhile competing with Saaho in the domestic market will be Chhichhore. The movie is a gold old trip down the college life coupled with a few hiccups but all in all Dangal director Nitesh Tiwari.

The campus drama, starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles, has decent buzz surrounding it, thanks to the film’s quirky promotional material that was released by the makers over the last one month. However, it is yet to be seen how the film performs at the box office.
As per film trade analyst, Chhichhore will open up to anywhere between 6 to 8 crores which is a decent sum in itself.
