Shahid Kapoor’s latest cinematic offering, Kabir Singh, is going from strength to strength at the box office. The romantic drama witnessed another jump on Sunday as it added Rs 4.05 crore more to its account. After a spectacular 24-day run in cinemas, its total business stands at Rs 259.94 crore.

Movie critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, in a Monday tweet, labelled the fourth-weekend performance of Kabir Singh as “super-strong.” He summed up the film’s business, writing, “#KabirSingh has a super-strong Weekend 4… [Week 4] Fri 2.54 cr, Sat 3.75 cr, Sun 4.05 cr. Total: ₹ 259.94 cr. India biz.”

If the current trend is anything to go by, Kabir Singh will remain strong throughout its fourth week. The presence of the Hrithik Roshan-starrer Super 30 will, of course, hurt its business, but not beyond a certain extent. But can the film mint almost Rs 40 crore more to zoom past the Rs 300 crore-mark? There is an outside chance but nothing can be said with certainty.

There is also the challenge from Article 15 that should not be taken lightly. While Kabir Singh got slammed by critics for being “misogynistic” and “high on violence,” Article 15 has been hailed by reviewers as another Ayushmann Khurrana classic. Nonetheless Super 30 poses a bigger challenge to Shahid’s film at the moment.

The film, directed by Vikas Bahl, made Rs 11.83 crore on the first day of its release. On its second day, it soared and collected Rs 18.19 crore. It is expected to have made Rs 16 crore on its third day, bringing its total collection to around Rs 46 crore approx.

Super 30 is based on the life of Patna-based mathematician Anand Kumar, who started the Super 30 program for aspiring underprivileged kids, who wish to crack the prestigious IIT entrance exam. Hrithik plays the role of Anand in the film, and Mrunal Thakur is his love interest.
