Kabir Sigh has finally hit theatres after a lot of buzz and being the remake of Telugu hit Arjun Reddy, there are high expectations from the film. The movie opened up to a jaw-dropping 20 crores on its first day despite receiving mixed reviews from the critics.
While some were impressed with Shahid’s acting, others found the film similar to its Telugu counterpart. However, its pre-release buzz helped it stay strong at the box office on day one. It has collected an impressive Rs 20.21 crore on opening day. Starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in lead roles, the movie has been helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
#OneWordReview…#KabirSingh: POWERFUL.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️½
Not the typical romantic saga. Unconventional, but powerful. Shahid is outstanding, career-best act. Kiara is lovely. Director Sandeep is an incredible storyteller. Overstretched runtime is a deterrent. #KabirSinghReview pic.twitter.com/5WiEEQJW2k— taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) June 20, 2019
Talking about the film’s opening day collection, Girish Kuber, editor of Jansatta said, “Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani are looking very good in Kabir Singh. The buzz is exceptionally high. The songs and the trailer have done the trick. It is a remake of Arjun Reddy which was a bumper hit down south. All in all, the movie is being liked by the audience. This would be one of Shahid’s best solo starts at the box office. The youth specifically is pretty much excited to watch the film.”
Elsewhere, Salman Khan starrer Bharat is still going strong, 17 days since its release. The movie has minted a total of Rs 201.86 crore till now. However, its collection in the past few days has considerably slowed down. And it looks like with the release of Kabir Singh will further impact its earnings.
