Being a Thursday, and no cricket matches featuring India, Box Office collections of movies went up again. After playing in the theatres for three weeks, Kabir Singh juggernaut rolls on, shattering all records.
Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani’s film became the highest-grossing film of 2019 recently, surpassing Uri: The Surgical Strike by some margin. While it took Uri five weeks to earn 240 crores, Kabir Singh has earned more than 240 crores in just three weeks. Moreover, Shahid’s film should have surpassed the 250 crore mark, however, India’s matches at the World Cup saw its business at the Box Office take a hit.

Kabir Singh is the only film which was not released on a holiday, to have reached that mark. It added to its collection, on Thursday, the collections jumped again as it was an open day with no cricket match featuring India. The collections were as high as 3.32 crores which pretty much indicates that the coming weekend would be again in the range of 10 crores.

Collections of Article 15 increased as well due to the same reason and 1.50 crores*came in. The film currently stands at 51.33 crores and before the third week is through, it would have comfortably gone past the 60 crores mark but the cricket match got split between two days.
Nonetheless, that gap should get covered in days to come because the film is already very well set and now it is about gaining as much bonus numbers as it can.

While the numbers are good so far, one doesn’t foresee the overall collections to still surpass Andhadhun. There is Super 30 this week which would also eat up the screens and shows, even as Article 15 is already battling challenges from Kabir Singh. Still, the fact that it has already come this far is an achievement, as well as the film, is a clean Hit.
*estimated numbers. Final count awaited.
