The Ranbir Kapoor Alia Bhatt starrer, ‘Brahmastra’, which has been helmed by Ayan Mukherji, has been among the most awaited movies of 2022. Roughly a week back, it’s trailer was unveiled and it received a mixed reaction by the crowd. In one scene, Ranbir can be seen wearing shoes inside a temple. This scene offended a certain segment of people.
Now, Ayan has issued a clarification on this scene and informed that the actor did not enter a temple. It was a Durga Puja Pandal. The director took to his Instagram account to clear the controversy that had been stirred. While the post seems to have been removed by him, he wrote, “We had some people in our community, upset because of one shot in our Trailer – Ranbir’s character wearing shoes as he rings a Bell. As the Creator of this film (and a devotee), I wanted to humbly address what happened here. In our movie, Ranbir is not entering a temple, but a Durga Puja Pandal.”
Being a Bengali himself, Ayan talked about how his own family has been following the ritual of a Durga Puja for the past 75 years. He added, “My own family has been organising a similar kind of Durga Puja Celebration for… 75 years! One, which I have been a part of since my childhood. In my experience, we only take off our shoes, right on the stage where the Goddess is, and not when you enter the Pandal.”
The film, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and South superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni in pivotal roles will hit the theatres on 9 September 2022.
