Bunty Aur Babli 2 will be released in theatres today, November 19th. The sequel, starring Rani Mukerji, Saif Ali Khan, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and debutant Sharvari, comes 16 years after the first film’s success, but will it be able to recapture the same magic?
The billion-dollar issue on everyone’s mind is why Saif Ali Khan has replaced Abhishek Bachchan as Bunty. The main secret has finally been revealed by a well-placed industry source.
According to Bollywood Life, the source said that the team wanted Abhishek Bachchan to reprise his role as Bunty. However, due to other commitments, the actor just did not have the time to do the sequel. And, since Bunty Aur Babli 2 was already in the works so long after the first, the filmmakers didn’t want to waste any more time. As a result, they approached Saif Ali Khan, who had previously worked with Rani Mukerji and he easily agreed to do the role.
The insider adds that Rani, too was anxious about a change in Bunty, but after seeing what Saif brought to the table on the first day on set, all her fears were dispelled. She became sure that Bunty was in good hands by the way he played Bunty, preserving the core of the character from all those years ago while still adding his own touch.
So, there you have it, the real cause for change which just adds to our excitement for the film.
