Tanuja Samarth Mukherjee, who is popularly known as Tanuja, was born to the family of filmmakers in the year 1943. Tanuja had three siblings, two sisters and one brother. Being born in a family in which everyone is an actor, Tanuja also had a keen interest in acting and Bollywood.
She made her debut with the movie Chhabili in the year 1960 which was directed by her mother herself and also co-starred her elder sister Nutan as a lead. Tanuja rose to popularity with the movie called Hamari Yaad Aayegi in the year 1961. This movie made her a star in a true manner.
Tanuja got married to filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee in the year 1973 and they got blessed with daughter Kajol in 1974. This adorable couple welcomed their second child Tanishaa in the year 1978.
One special thing that bonds mother Tanuja and her two daughters is delicious food. While giving an interview to a media channel, Tanuja once said that she is a true foodie and she loves to cook food. However, she also revealed that both daughters are not interested in cooking.
Talking about mother, Tanishaa once said — ‘When my mum was an actress, I was in boarding school and was treated like a normal kid. But many people including the nuns in the school would say, ‘Your mom’s so much fun.’
Mommy Tanuja shares a friendly bond with both daughters and she is often spotted with them at events and functions. When it comes to giving styling competition, she is not behind her daughters.
