The custody battle between actress Shweta Tiwari and her divorced partner, Abhinav Kohli, for their young son Reyansh has been in the news for a few days. In a surprising turn of events, Shweta Tiwari released a CCTV video showing Abhinav Kohli attempting to grab Reyansh from Shweta Tiwari’s arms. There seems to have been a physical altercation between the former couple. The incident occurred in Shweta Tiwari’s house complex in October 2020. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has now written to the Mumbai Police Department, requesting that they investigate the matter. They tweeted, “@NCWIndia is perturbed by this reported incident and has taken cognizance of the matter. Chairperson @sharmarekha has written to DGP Maharashtra asking to immediately to look into the matter and take appropriate action in accordance with the law.”

Hemant Nagrale, Mumbai Police Commissioner, has received information from the NCW’s chairperson saying, “In the hustle, Shweta Tiwari falls on the ground. The accused continues to create ruckus after getting inside the house as well. The commission is perturbed with the sight of the atrocity being committed on a child and to the woman. You are, therefore, requested to immediately look into the matter and take appropriate action against the accused in accordance with the law. The action taken must be communicated to the commission within 10 days.”

Their son Reyansh was born in 2016 after the couple married in 2013. In 2018, their marriage began to crumble, and by the next year, they eventually divorced. Shweta was accused by Abhinav Kohli of abandoning Reyansh in a hotel and fleeing to South Africa for Khatron Ke Khiladi 11.
