As we all know, in 2021 live concerts were completely absent, the music slowly and steadily returned to the proscenium. Also, some found music in the dark times too. Here are the artists and stories from the world of music from 2021.

Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia eighty-year-old flute maestro took to the fundamental raga, played with it for about 40 minutes. He was supported by Pt Ram Kumar Mishra table player and his students Devapriya, Amrita Uprety, and Vaishnavi Joshi. Organized by SPIC MACAY as part of AZAADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV. Also, the concert titled Wadi-e-Kashmir was an extension of the organization’s famed ‘Music in the park series.’

Also, a few names caught our attention including Pavithra Chari, one-half of Delhi-based duo shadow and light, Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Saachi Rajadhyaksha and Bengaluru-based L’Nee Golay led by Vasundhara Vee who turned our heads with her powerful voice. She is a solo artist bearing her core to us and the whiskey-tinged voice and the honest lyrics are hard to miss.

Among the young vocalist, Abhishek Raghuram Hindustani and Carnatic is one of the final vocalists at this point. He was in full form at December Music Season in Chennai. On the other hand, reality show contestant Pratibha Singh Baghel caught much attention as Umrao Jaan in the musical Umrao Jaan that was staged in the capital in 2019. Lastly, Ishaan Leonard Rao is a pianist who could be seen in the audience while his parents had performed together. Also, the Rao family came together for a concert this year where he did a deep dive into the world of Mozart and worked along the Indian classical scales to showcase his stormy reworking of some of the pieces.

Also, Shakira Columbian pop star followed selling her 145-song catalogue including Waka Waka and popular pieces like Hips Don’t Lie.

Manika Maake

Yohani D’ Silva’s “Manika Maake” hithe reached India garnering more than 110 million times after balming the hearts of the quarantined Sri Lankans. From Madhuri Dixit to Parineeti Chopra was singing, dancing to the piece and putting out videos on their social media handles.

Smooth Like Butter

As we all know, BTS became the first K-pop group to top the billboard 200. It is a seven-member boy band. Their Song Butter went viral. Also, the smooth synths in the dance-pop number and those fabulous dance moves reminded us of memories from the past pop world.

Also, the songs from the Film Shershaah named Rattan Lambiyaan and Raanjha had topped the charts on most streaming platforms.
