Gaurav Gulati, a Delhi-based lawyer, has filed a case against 38 celebrities for revealing the name of the 2019 Hyderabad rape case victim.
In 2019, a girl was brutally raped and burnt alive by four men in Hyderabad. She eventually succumbed to the burns and died. The rape had shocked the country, like the Nirbhaya case. The fact that such cruelty exists in the society is unbelievable. As the masses took took to the social media to express their disbelief and shock, so did many Indian celebrities. However, while doing so, some of them ended up revealing the girl’s name.
According to the law, you cannot reveal the real name of a rape victim on any social media platform, as it is unethical. Hence, the case has been filed against 38 celebrities from Bollywood and Tollywood, including Anupam Kher, Farhan Akhtar, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Maharaja Ravi Teja, Rakul Preet Singh, Allu Sirish, Charmme Kaur.
If sources are to be believed, Gaurav filed this complaint in Sabzi Mandi Police Station under IPC section 228 A and also filed a petition in Tees Hazari Court. He has also reportedly requested for the immediate arrest of all the 38 celebrities, accusing them of lack of social responsibility.
