Designer Manish Malhotra, after reshaping the fashion story of Bollywood, is ready to make his debut as a director with an intense musical love story. He will start the casting process soon.
The new phase appears to be a natural progression for the designer following his career of about 30 years. Through costume design and styling, he has given his Midas touch for about 800 movies throughout the years.
In this new phase of life of Manish Malhotra as a director, he will be backed by his long associate, friend and filmmaker Karan Johar through Dharma Productions.
A source has revealed that “The story and screenplay of this intense musical love story, set in the backdrop of the partition, is also written by Malhotra. He has already envisioned the entire screenplay ready in his mind and casting for the film will begin shortly”. The source also promised that the movie will “come with a splash of grandeur and elegance”, mostly like all of his design creations.
During the last 30 years, Manish Malhotra worked on reshaping the roles of costumes in Bollywood’s storytelling and that continues to stay in the minds of the people. He has given the aesthetic but bold approach in ‘Rangeela’ (1995), the sensuous yet simple in ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’ (1997). He has also set fashion goals with dupattas, skirts, pants and crop tops and has given a unique new range of colors for the bridal collection.
Manish Malhotra has designed looks for actors including (late) Sridevi, Kajol, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Raveena Tandon to the generation Janhvi Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and others.
