Veteran Dilip Kumar who passed away yesterday has left the whole country in a heavy heart. He was 98 years old and was suffering from a prolonged illness for quite a long time. His last rites were held at Juhu crematory with full state honour. His wife Saira Banu was there with him all along throughout the journey of his life. Well, being the superstar of Bollywood, he acquired a lot of success, yet there was one wish that remained unfulfilled.
Dilip Sahab had a lot of affection towards his parents. They were cremated at a small place called Devali in Nashik. Dilip Sahab wanted to get cremated right beside his parents. In fact, he had already reserved a place next to his parent’s burial. He always wanted to rest beside his parents and take his journey to heaven in peace. According to some reports, his close relatives had also made arrangements for his burial at Nashik. But his wife Saira Banu rejected the idea and he was taken to Juhu’s Crematory. And Dilip Kumar’s last wish remained incomplete.
Dilip Kumar was born in 1922 in Pakistan with the name Mohammad Yusuf Khan. He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 1991 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994. He is best known for his roles in Naya Daur, Mughal-e-Azam, Ganga Jamuna, Madhumati and Devdas.
