Farhan Akhtar criticizes those selling fake COVID-19 medication; calls them a ‘monster’

The devastating Coronavirus is causing a second wave in India. As the number of cases rises, it is having a negative impact on the life of ordinary citizens. Everyone is stepping in to lend a helping hand, from common citizens to celebrities. However, rumours of fake pills being distributed have emerged. In reaction to this news, actor, Farhan Akhtar took to Twitter calling the sellers of fake medication, ‘monster.’

The ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ actor wrote, “Seen a news report of people manufacturing & selling fake Covid medication. You have to be a special kind of monster to con people in these dark & desperate times. Shame on you, whoever you are!!!” His tweet came after news of raids on factories producing and distributing fake Remdesivir injections was reported. Following a recent spike in COVID-19 cases, the drug is in high demand across the country. Fans have also expressed their love for the actor and voiced their opinions. One of the fans compared the price to gold and said that it was more costly.

Another wrote, “I feel people who are trying to line their pockets with money atm, don’t realise that they are lining their pockets with the death and misery of thousands of people. They don’t realise that this pain and misery in their pockets will haunt them later in life.”

On the professional front, the actor will next be seen in the film Toofan where he will take on the part of a boxer. Mrunal Thakur, Paresh Rawal, Supriya Pathak Kapur, and Hussain Dalal star in the film, which is directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.
