Veteran actor Feroz Khan was one of the most irresistible actors of his time. The actor had his own unique charm, and during the 70s, there was no actor who could match Feroz in terms of his looks, to the way he carried himself, his dialogue delivery, fashion statement, gravity in his voice and much more.
Today, the late actor would have celebrated his 80th birthday. On his birthday, we take a look into the personal life of Feroz Khan.
Feroz grew up in Bangalore and was aware of his good looks, so he wanted to become a model. He shifted to Mumbai, and after 6 years of struggle Feroz Khan would go on to become a household name after his first major hit ‘Arzoo’. There was no looking back ever since.
Like many great superstars, Feroz too was the centre of attraction for women. His good looks and charm were enough to woo any lady. In a throwback interview about women, Feroz had said, “I was quite a Casanova when I was a bachelor and was often spotted at clubs and parties with the most gorgeous women of Bollywood. I treat women with the respect that is due to them and this explains my large number of female friends. Unfortunately, I was branded as a womaniser by some people.”
Marriage with Sundari Khan:
Feroz and Sundari met sometime in 1962, and they fell for each other instantly. After dating for three years, Feroz decided that Sundari was ‘The One’. They tied the knot in 1965 and were soon blessed with a baby girl, Laila and another baby boy, Fardeen Khan. All seemed well until there came trouble in paradise.
The Affair with Air Hostess:
While Feroz was once travelling due to work, he met an air hostess aboard a flight and could not take his eyes off her. Thus began a much-talked about extra-marital affair with a much younger woman, Jyotika Dhanrajgir. However, if you are a superstar hiding things becomes very difficult.
Sundari’s reaction and divorce:
Sundari obviously was furious with Feroz and she decided to move away from Feroz with her two children. The actor was so in love with Jyotika that he left his wife and children to and started living with her in Bangalore. As per rumours, Jyotika would often ask Feroz to marry her, but he wanted things to be the way they were.
Feroz was still a dedicated father. He never shied away from his responsibilities and this led to him breaking up with Jyotika eventually. He moved back to Mumbai but Sundari and his children were living under the same roof but on different floors. As they say, once a mirror is cracked it can never be the same again.
We are divorced but it does not alter our feelings or our commitment towards our children as parents. I have been responsible in my relationships. I have been a fair father,” said Feroz in an interview back then.
Battle with Cancer:
In the year 2000, Feroz Khan was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and he fought with the disease bravely. After nine years of long struggle, the actor breathed his last on April 27, 2009. He was last seen in the Akshay Kumar starrer, Welcome.
