Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra shares a rare photo of Dilip Kumar and Alfred Hitchcock

Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra, on Friday, has shared a rare photo of the late legendary actor Dilip Kumar with English filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock. The photo was captured during Alfred Hitchcock’s visit to India in 1955.

Sudhir Mishra posted the black and white throwback photo on his Twitter handle and captioned it as “Taken during Hitchcock’s 1955 visit to India (Sent to me by Bhuvan Lall)”.

The filmmaker informed in a separate tweet about the reason for Alfred Hitchcock’s visit to India and wrote, “Hitchcock was on a promotional tour for his film ‘The Trouble With Harry’. He attended the Bombay premiere of the film”.

Dilip Kumar, born as Mohammad Yusuf Khan in 1922 in Peshawar, passed away at 98 at a Mumbai hospital on July 7. The funeral has taken place with full state honors and is laid to rest at Juhu Qabrastan.

Sudhir Mishra had shared a tweet on Wednesday recollecting the memories with the actor Dilip Kumar and he penned as “Many many years ago Dilip Saab had called some of us to his house. I remember Ketan Mehta and Govind Nihalani being there among others. He wanted us to make short films on communal harmony. I wish we had taken a picture! What a man. What an actor ! Thank you , Sir!”.

The filmmaker also tweeted on the same day expressing his words of appreciation for the legendary actor and wrote, “Very few actors had to be skill set of Dilip Saab. He could you to so many places with his voice. He could take an over the top scene and play it, always balancing perfectly on the edge, never once falling over. Think Ganga Jumna, Andaz, Gopi”.
