“Gone but not forgotten” Irrfan Khan gets tribute in Oscar’s memorial segment

The Memorial segment of the 93rd Academy honoured and remembered the late Indian personalities who contributed to shaping the cinema. The two Indian personalities Irrfan Khan whose film “Salaam Bombay” was nominated for Oscar, got a tribute. Along with Oscar-winning costume designer Bhanu Athaiya along with Chadwick Boseman, Cicely Tyson, Sean Connery, Diana Rigg, Helen McCrory, and other stars too.

Late actor Irrfan earned respect around the whole globe with his talent and Hollywood films like ‘Life of Pi,’ ‘Jurassic World’, ‘Inferno,’ and ‘The amazing Spider-man.’

Also, Bhanu Athaiya was the first Indian to win an Oscar award for Best Costume Design for Gandhi in 1982. Late actors Sushant Singh Rajput, Rishi Kapoor, and Soumitra Chatterjee were also honoured in its ‘A to Look Back’ segment this year for their contribution to the cinematic world.

This year’s Oscar is being conducted in Los Angeles at ‘Dolby Theatre and Union’ station. Oscar was originally scheduled in February, but get delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic
