Veteran Gujarati Film actor and exceptional theatre artist Arvind Rathod passes away at his residence in the Paldi area of Ahmedabad on Thursday. He was 83 years old. The actor was diagnosed with COVID-19 but had recovered.
Speaking to the press his Niece-in-law Jagruti said, “Uncle was bed-ridden for some time now. He was diagnosed with Covid19 a few months ago but had recovered. However, due to age-related issues, he was bed-ridden after that.”
“He was not well and was not in contact with anyone from the industry. I pray for the departed soul,” Gujarati actor Hiten Kumar told the press.
The 83-year-old actor was unmarried and living with his nephew in Ahmedabad after he left the film industry. He was known for his powerful villain roles in Gujarati films. Moreover, he has also worked in some Hindi films too. Rathod was a photojournalist before he came to acting.
He had aced his performances in Gujarati films like ‘Bhadra Tara Vaheta Pani’, ‘Son Kansari’, ‘Ganga Sati’, ‘Maa Khodal Taro Khamkaro’. Also, Rathod was seen in Hindi films like Agneepath, Khuda Gawah starring Amitabh Bachchan in lead. Celebrities of Gujarati and Hindi Cinema are mourning his sad demise over social media.
