Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings on the last ball to clinch their fourth IPL title in a closely contested final on Sunday. After winning the toss, Mumbai went through a slow start and lost wickets on a regular interval. They slumped to a score of 149 and set up CSK to chase.
Chennai who got off to a flyer were then pegged back by a brilliant bowling attack of the Indians, who made a strong comeback into the match. In the last over, Lasith Malinga won his side the match with two runs needed off the last ball, but Shardul Thakur was LBW on the last ball. The match had its fair share of ups and downs, crucial calls that could have gone either way.

MS Dhoni — RUN-OUT
** A million replays
** And the front-on angle shows the bat JUST (maybe?!) outside the crease as he tries to steal a second run off an overthrow
** Dhoni in fact was walking back on seeing the replay#CSK : 82/4 (13) | Need 68 in 42 balls #IPL2019 #MIvCSK— Cricbuzz (@cricbuzz) May 12, 2019

Dhoni had to be given out after the second angle was shown. Opinions divided of course.

I don’t think it was possible to give him n.o after they showed the second angle, even Dhoni started to walk. Still not sure if it was out or not but once that angle was shown, I don’t think the umpire had the courage to give any other decision.

Either way, the decision tilted the game in Mumbai’s favor from then onwards and they would on to clinch the title soon after.
