On Friday, the officials told that the Jammu and Kashmir government is in the course of finalizing the J&K Film Policy with an aim to promote film tourism in the Union Territory.
Apart from assisting the film makers, the policy will exhibit the beautiful places of J&K for those who wants to shoot their movies here, to explore the locations, local talent and facilities and to obtain the necessary clearances.
The policy is focused on utilizing the local talent in the field of filmmaking in J&K and creating employment opportunities for the young people in the field.
A complete database is being prepared on the available local talent in J&K so that the film makers who wishes to shoot their film in the UT can utilize the services.
Every film production is a place that includes creative artists from different fields like acting, choreography, dance, costume designing, advertisements and others. This policy will new opportunities of employment for the youth in J&K.
In addition to that, there is also requirement of people in various sectors of cinematic tools such as camera, editing, sound recording, set designing, lighting, etc.
In a two-day conference titled ‘Tapping the Tourism Potential of Kashmir’, J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed that “J&K government has almost finalized the new film policy after thorough deliberations with the stakeholders and the same will be announced within ten days”.
