Veteran personality Javed Akhtar talked about his struggling days in Mumbai. Lyricist and screenwriter said that how he did not even have a fixed place to sleep. The veteran actor said that he would sometimes sleep under trees.
In 2006, talking with Hindustan Times, Javed Akhtar said he slept sometimes on the verandah, sometimes in the corridor, sometimes under trees where homeless, jobless people lived. Javed Akhtar added in November 1969 he got work which in film parlance is known as a break.
The veteran actor with his partner Salim Khan wrote the screenplay of several blockbusters in the 1970s and 80s; However, due to personal differences they parted ways in 1982. Coming back to Javed Akhtar, he won multiple National awards and received a Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. Adding more details, Akhtar mostly use Urdu words, read and write in Urdu. Also, he is known for his work in Hindi Cinema.
According to the sources, the veteran actor recalled his journey and the day he first arrived in Mumbai in 2020. Javed Akhtar tweeted, “It was 4th of October when I came to Bombay….thank you Mumbai, film industry, thank you life. You all have been too kind.”
