Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani’s film Kabir Singh is minting money at the Box Office. Kabir Singh, which released in 3123 screens across the country, is a remake of the Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy.

The film has quickly become the biggest opener of Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani’s career, Kabir Singh continues its glorious run at the box office. The film raked in Rs 27.91 crore on Sunday, taking its total collection so far to Rs 70.83 crore. As of now, Kabir Singh is the fourth biggest Hindi opener at the box office this year, and the only one to not release on a holiday.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who also helmed the original, Kabir Singh revolves around a surgeon who deteriorates his life after his lady love leaves him for someone else. The film also stars Soham Majumdar, Arjan Bajwa, Suresh Oberoi and Kamini Kaushal in pivotal roles.

Recently, Shahid and Kiara both took to social media to thank the fans for their blessings and love towards the film. Elsewhere, Shahid wife Mira Rajput posted an adorable congratulatory picture message for his husband’s success.

While the audience has been flocking to the theatres to watch Kabir Singh, critics have slammed it for its toxic masculinity. Movie reviewer Ananya Bhattacharya gave the film 1.5 stars out of 5. In her review, she wrote, “Misogyny is not cool. Neither is Kabir Singh.”

“Kabir Singh the film is the same film as Arjun Reddy. It is the same story, the same dialogues, the same character, the same. So if you have seen Arjun Reddy, you would know that Shahid Kapoor is merely play-acting, trying to do a Vijay Deverakonda. Shahid tries so hard to be Vijay Deverakonda that Kabir Singh loses himself after the first few scenes. So what did Sandeep Reddy Vanga and this entire cast and crew do with Kabir Singh? That’s a question we don’t yet have an answer to,” wrote Ananya while criticising the makers of the film.
