Kangana Ranaut recently caused a sensation when she said that India gained independence in 2014, implying the BJP-led administration, while Independence in 1947 was “bheek” (alms). According to NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik, the actress was talking too much after taking too much “Malana cream,” a form of hashish named after the Malana valley in Himachal Pradesh. He also requested that Kangana be charged with insulting freedom warriors and that her Padma Shri is withdrawn.

Kangana wrote in a passage from a book, offering to return the prestigious Padma Shri award. “Everything is very clearly mentioned in the same interview 1857 first collective fight for freedom…… 1857 I know but which war took place in 1947 I am not aware, if someone can bring to my awareness, I will give back my Padma Shri and apologise also……..”
