Kangana Ranaut skips a defamation hearing in the case of Javed Akhtar, and the court has issued an arrest order for the ‘Thalaivii’ actress. She is facing severe repercussions for failing to appear at a court in the defamation case between Javed Akhtar and Kangana Ranaut. She was required to appear in person at the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate’s court. Kangana Ranaut’s lawyer, Rizwan Siddiquee, revealed that the actress has been frequently travelling and that she has been requested to take a COVID test since she is ill. As a result, the actress was granted relief.
The next hearing is set for September 20, and if Kangana does not show up, an arrest warrant will be issued against her, according to reports. Her lawyer reportedly asked the court for a week’s time and even indicated that Kangana will be ready for the case’s virtual hearing.
Kangana’s lawyer claimed that lyricist Javed Akhtar called Kangana and her sister, Rangoli Chandel, with the help of a doctor who was familiar to both of them. According to reports, Javed Akhtar sought to ‘advise and calm’ Kangana in order to resolve her difficulties with Hrithik Roshan. He further said Kangana did not listen to him and that she would handle the situation according to her own preferences.
Following Kangana’s claimed “defamatory and false comments” against him during a television interview, Javed Akhtar filed a complaint last year. The court ordered the Juhu police to investigate Akhtar’s complaint in December 2020, and an offence of defamation was prima facie established, prompting the court to commence criminal proceedings against the actress. Last week, the Bombay High Court dismissed Kangana’s request to quash the defamation action filed against her based on the complaint of lyricist Javed Akhtar.
