Sita – the incarnation screenplay writer Manoj Muntashir has denied rumours that actors Kareena Kapoor Khan and Deepika Padukone have been approached for the project. He went on to say that the producers had always wanted Kangana Ranaut to play the lead.

Kangana Ranaut will play Sita from the Ramayan in the upcoming epic historical drama The Incarnation – Sita, it was announced earlier this week. Alaukik Desai is set to direct the film. Apart from Manoj, KV Vijayendra Prasad and Alaukik co-wrote the screenplay.

Muntashir said in an interview with the Free Press Journal, “I’m thrilled to see Kangana Ranaut in the role of Sita. We put her at the top of our priority list. There were rumours that celebrities like Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone had been approached for the project, however this was not true. The Sita Devi we’ve sketched has many colours, and Kangana Ranaut is the finest cast in that regard. After seeing the movie in theatres, you won’t be able to imagine anyone else in her shoes. We never sought other actresses since we knew Kangana would be perfect for the lead. Because the film is about Sita when she was young, the quest for a young actress to play the title role was on.”

Muntashir remarked of Kangana’s selection for the role, “She believes in the character of Sita.” Only a few people are naturally attracted to that area. With the majority of actresses, you’ll have to explain Sita’s DNA to them. However, Kangana Ranaut is Sita… My Sita is not shy, timid, or vulnerable, and Kangana has a strong personality. She is a person who takes a stand and makes choices. Sita needs to be the face of Indian feminism; she needs to be a role model.” Muntashir remarked of Kangana’s selection for the role, “She believes in the character of Sita.”
