Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon, who is currently busy in the shooting of her upcoming period drama ‘Panipat’ feels being a North Indian, playing the role of a Marathi character in the film is quite some challenge for her. However, she is relishing the opportunity as it would enable her to grow and become a better actor.
Talking about working on a period drama for the first time, Kriti told IANS, “It’s a completely new world for me. Being a North Indian, it is a challenge to play a Marathi character but Ashu Sir (filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker) made it easy and very enjoyable.”
The movie’s plot will reveal the story of what led to the events before the third battle of Panipat. For the film, Kriti will don the role of Parvati Bai, the second wife of Sadashivrao Bhau who was the commander-in-chief of the Maratha army in the third battle of Panipat.
Shedding further light on her role in the film Kriti added, “He has also shaped up and layered the character of Parvati Bai very well and made her quite strong and independent even though she belongs to a different period.”
Ashutosh Gowariker’s wife Sunita is producing the movie under the home banner AGPPL in association with Vision World. Panipat will also see Arjun Kapoor and Sanjay Datt alongside Kriti in lead roles. The movie is slated to release on December 6, with National Award-winning music director duo Ajay-Atul creating tunes for the film.
Kriti’s last movie Luka Chuppi earned her rave reviews from the audiences and critics for her performance in the movie which did great business at the box office. Kriti will also be seen in Karan Johar’s multi-starrer Kalank. With Panipat, the 28-year-old actress will hope to keep the good momentum going.
