The legendary actor Dilip Kumar gets a accorded state funeral draped in ‘beautiful Tricolor’

Dilip Kumar is one of the most respected actors in India who is popular for his characters as tragic hero in the Bollywood movies, passed away on Wednesday morning, July 7. The legendary actor was accorded a state funeral by the government of Maharashtra for his tremendous contribution to the world of cinema.

The family and close friend of Dilip Kumar, Faisal Farooqui has shared a video of a police officer draping the legendary actor in the Tricolor, on his Twitter handle. He penned as, “State funeral protocols – #DilipKumar saab being draped with the beautiful tricolor”.

The actor was 98 years old and one of the doctors treating Dilip Kumar told that he was not well for some time. Doctor Jalil Parkar told that “He had breathing difficulties…We tried very hard. We had hoped he would reach 100”.

He was born with the name Mohammed Yusuf Khan in 1922 in Peshawar (now in Pakistan) and once he joined the Bollywood industry in 1940s, he became popular by the screen name Dilip Kumar.

PM Narendra Modi told, “Dilip Kumar… will be remembered as a cinematic legend. He was blessed with unparalleled brilliance, due to which audiences across generations were enthralled. His passing away is a loss to our cultural world”.

Bollywood stars paid their respect by visiting his residence in Mumbai and it includes Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar and Vidya Balan.

Anil Kapoor remembered the actor and wrote, “Our world is a little less bright today because one of our brightest stars has left us for the heavens. Dilip Sahab was very close to my father and I had the tremendous honor of sharing screen-space with him in 3 of my most memorable films”.

Akshay Kumar addressed him as the real hero and tweeted, “To the world many others may be heroes. To us actors, he was The Hero. #DilipKumar Sir has taken an entire era of Indian cinema away with him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Om Shanti”.
