In 2020 COVID-19 hit India made it a ‘Pandemic Year’ and since then nothing has changed much. The Novel Coronavirus has an adverse effect on everything either its education or industrial sector and what not but in between such crises, two things that have pulled off the responsibility to protect and entertain us is the health and entertainment sector. On one page doctors and frontline workers emerged as warriors while on another page the film industry didn’t stop from making one masterpiece after another and acted as a survival kit in this never-ending quarantine. So, leading up to that here we are with of list of 5 big budget movies lined up to release in 2021 and all set to rock the OTT or theatres. 


After a leap of one year, Bhaijan’s most awaited project is all set to rock the theatres on his pre-booked dateline Eid which is on 13th May directed by Prabhu Deva. The movie also stars Disha Patani, Megha Akash, Randeep Hooda and Jackie Shroff in lead roles. Bhaijan has already dropped the bombshell with the release of Radhe trailer in which after 32 years Salman had kissed someone on-screen which removed all the stops from No-Kissing-Policy. It is also said that plot of Radhe movie is based on famous Korean Drama  


Ranveer Singh who was last seen as Alaud-Dīn Khaljī in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s  Padmavat is all ready to hit the floors on 4th June 2021. 83 is a biographical sports film on India winning World Cup against the world-class team of the West Indies. It’s directed by Kabir Khan and jointly produced by Khan, Vishnuvardhan Induri, Deepika Padukone and Sajid Nadiadwala. Co-distributed by Reliance Entertainment, the film stars Ranveer Singh as cricketer Kapil Dev. With 83 movie Deepika and Ranveer the #Deepveer will again share the screen space as Deepika Padukone is portraying role of Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Bhatia. 

3. KGF Chapter 2

 One thing that has changed definitely after the success of Bahubali is the mindsets for south movies. Due to the success and exposer another maker also come up with their big-budget movies and one of them is KGF. KGF Chapter 2 with swag of Rocky Bhai played by Yash will hit the big screen on 16th July. K.G.F: Chapter 2 is an upcoming Indian Kannada-language period action film written and directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner Hombale Films. The second instalment of the two-part series, it is a sequel to the 2018 film. It also stars Srinidhi Shetty, Raveena Tandon and Prakash Raj and Sanjay Dutt. 

4. Gangubai Kathiawadi 

In 2011, a book titled Mafia Queens of Mumbai was published. It was written by Hussain Zaidi. Alia Bhatt-starer Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on his book. Gangubai is also known as Madam of Kamathipura, was the owner of several brothels back in the 1960s. She is one of the most powerful women to have ever existed in Mumbai and many walls in Kamathipura still have her pictures hung.  After doing three movies with Deepika at a stretch finally SLB (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) tied up with a new face to work with under his banner; Alia Bhatt. This is the first time that Alia is working with SLB. The movie will release on 30th July and also stars Ajay Devgan and Emraan Hashmi in an extended cameo appearance. 



After breaking all record with his previous movie Bahubali which made the audience see south-movies with a different sight S Rajamouli is again coming up with his big-budget movie RRR. It is a fictional story about India’s freedom fighters, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Rama Rao) who fought against the British Raj and Nizam of Hyderabad respectively. The star cast includes Alia Bhatt as the first Bollywood actress to work with Rajamouli. Olivia Morris, Ajay Devgan, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, and Alison Doody will also be seen in supporting roles. The movie is scheduled to release in 13 October. 

 Besides the aforesaid movies, some projects are also postponed amid a spike in cases due to COVID-19. Kangana’s Thalaivi was scheduled to release on 23rd April but the alarming situation put a hold on the release. Similarly, Satyamev Jayate 2 starring John Abraham  was supposed to release on 13th of May but due to current situation it got postponed till further notice.
