  1. Madhavan was recently criticised for comments he made at a promotional event for his next film, ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect.’

According to the actor, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched the PSLV C-25 rocket to Mars using information from the panchangam (Hindu calendar). In response to the trolling, Madhavan has stated that he “deserved” it.

Madhavan took to Twitter to remark, I deserve this for calling the almanac the ‘Panchang’ in Tamil. Very ignorant of me. Though this cannot take away from the fact that what was achieved with just 2 engines by us in the Mars Mission. A record by itself. @NambiNOfficial Vikas engine is a rockstar’

Madhavan is heard saying in Tamil in a video that went popular on social media platforms “Indian rockets did not have the three engines (solid, liquid and cryogenic) that helps western rockets propel themselves into Mars’ orbit. Since India lacked this, we used information in the Panchangam.”

He elaborated further, saying, “It includes a celestial map with all information on various planets, gravitational pulls, sun’s flare deflection, and so on, all correctly computed 1000s of years ago. As a result, the launch was computed using this information. The rocket took off and circled the Earth, Moon, and Jupiter’s moon. It bounced about like a toy and reached Mars orbit.”

The actor makes his directing debut with this movie. It will be released in theatres on July 1 and will include a special cameo appearance by Shah Rukh Khan.
