Born on February 23, 1969, well known actress Bhagyashree belongs to the Patwardhan royal Marathi family of Sangli in Maharashtra.
Actor, movie producer Amol Palekar was Bhagyashree’s neighbor and he encouraged her to work in a TV show named Kachchi Dhoop. Their team work remained victorious. She finished up substituting the main lead who was initially chosen but discarded the project unexpectedly. The show, Kachchi Dhoop, was an altered copy of Louisa Mary Alcott’s Little Women.
After showcasing her skills in a couple of more TV serials, the Marathi girl bagged her big break during the year 1989 with Rajshri Productions’ Maine Pyar Kiya, with superstar Salman Khan. Her major triumph till date is Maine Pyar Kiya. She also pocketed the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for her role.
Remembering her ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ days, the actress stated, “Salman, Sooraj and I were absolutely new and raw. We all bonded well. For me, the most important part was when we shot the wedding sequence. When they were going to put mehndi on my hand, it was just two days prior to my real wedding. So, the entire shoot was planned in such a way that I could be given a nice send-off. So that is the very lovely memory for me.”
Bhagyashree tied the nuptial knot with actor-turned-businessman Himalaya Dasani in the year 1990. The couple has two kids, a son Abhimanyu and daughter Avantika. They acted together in 3 flicks comprising Qaid Main Hai Bulbul, Tyagi and Paayal, all hit the theaters in the year 1992.
In addition to Hindi films, she has worked in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi and Bhojpuri films.
Bhagyashree’s son Abhimanyu Dasani is ready to enter Bollywood in a quirky action comedy named Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota.
One of Bhagyashree’s distinguished recent TV characters was in Laut Aao Trisha that hit the screens from 2014-15. It was a version of the Spanish TV show Donde Esta Elisa.
Bhagyashree is also the promoter of the media firm Shrishti Entertainment with her hubby Himalaya Dasani.
Bhagyashree turned out to be the brand ambassador of the Bhagyashree Scheme, rolled out by the Maharashtra administration during March 2015 that looks after girl children belong to families below the poverty line.
