Malayalam actor VP Khalid no more

In what is tragic news for the Malayalam cinema, Mollywood actor and a popular TV serial fame VP Khalid passed away on the morning of Friday, i.e 24th June. Several Mollywood celebrities and TV celebs have taken to their official social media handles to pay homage to the popular actor.

Legendary Mollywood actor, Mammootty took to his official Facebook handle to pay tribute to the late actor with whom he was said to be sharing a good bond. Mammootty shared a picture of VP Khalid and penned a note that read, “RIP VP Khalid.” VP Khalid played a small role in Mammootty’s recently released movie ‘Puzhu’ and also in the film ‘Thappana’. In a similar way, Mollywood actress Manju Warrier also paid homage to VP Khalid by taking to her official Instagram handle and sharing a picture of him with a note that read, “RIP.”

Actors Asif Ali and Fara Shibla, both of whom Khalid has worked with previously, took to their respective Instagram handles to pay their respects by sharing a picture of the actor with a note that read, “RIP”. VP Khalid played a comedy character in Fara Shibla and Asif Ali starrer ‘Kakshi: Amminippilla’.

VP Khalid was well known for his role in the TV sitcom named ‘Marimayam’. He also earned extreme recognition from the TV audience for his comical character in the sitcom, Sumeshettan. Meanwhile, VP Khalid made his acting debut in movies with the 1973 film ‘Periyar’ which was directed by PJ Antony. Later he played prominent roles in movies like ‘Ponnapuram Kotta’, ‘Kanal Kaattu’, ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’, ‘Sunday Holiday’, ‘Vikruthi’, and the recently released Mammootty starrer ‘Puzhu’.
