As India battles the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of celebrities and influencers have stepped forward to donate and publicize SOS appeals. Rohit Shetty, the filmmaker, known for popular films such as Dilwale and Chennai Express, has once again stepped up to support those in need. Although the director has not disclosed much about his involvement, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, the Akali Dal’s National Spokesperson, has praised Shetty for his generous donation.
On Friday, Manjinder Singh Sirsa took to his Twitter handle to tell that Bol Bachchan director had donated a noteworthy sum to their COVID-19 care facility. “He might be a Khatron ka Khiladi on screen; but behind the scene, he is a compassionate one who cares for humanity. Thanking Rohit Shetty for donating a significant amount to our COVID-19 Care Facility. May this service come back as multiple BLESSINGS Rohit Ji,” Sirsa tweeted.

Meanwhile, the Simmba director revealed in March that Sooryavanshi, his long-awaited film, would be released on April 30. However, by the end of the month, the world had been hit by a second wave of the pandemic, prompting the filmmakers to delay the film’s release once more. Originally, the Akshay Kumar starer was set to reach theatres in March of 2020.
