Meghna Gulzar, the woman behind critically acclaimed films like Talvar and Raazi is the only daughter of lyricist and poet Gulzar and actress Raakhee. She superbly presents the real-life stories through her films. After the hit of Raazi, she is coming with another flick based on the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. Reports say it will be a biopic but she refused by saying no it will not fall under the category of a biopic.
At the event of Dinesh Raheja’s book launch titled “101 Haiku, the Raazi director said, “I am making the film on the life of Field Marshal of our country Sam Manekshaw but it’s not a biopic. My last film ‘Raazi’ was also not a biopic but with my upcoming film, I want to showcase the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.”
As we know her forte is real -life stories which we have also seen in Alia Bhatt starrer Raazi and Talvar. And, now a film on Sam Manekshaw who was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal. Manekshaw military career crossed four decades and five wars and at the age of 94 years, he died in hospital.
However, about Alia Bhatt, the very talented director said: “I don’t know how I would have made Raazi without Alia. With due respect to all the other actors, an actor pops into the head the moment I write the story. So I knew the arc the character required, I knew the level of performance I wanted. And, there’s an inherent vulnerability about Alia. She says she is always doubting herself, always nervous. It’s a character trait in her, not an actor ability.”
