Milind Soman reveals his fitness secret, says ‘endurance sports keep me going’

Fitness king Milind Soman needs no introduction when it comes to how to give fitness goals even in his fifties. Right from running barefoot to doing adventurous stunts, no one can even come close to him. But, maintaining such fitness is no easy task and it takes a lot of hard work to keep the things going on the right track. In a recent interview, he revealed his fitness secrets and also talked about his favorite sport.

Q&A Sundays!!! . . Why do we say Fitness and health is beyond ‘physical’? Fitness is not only about how far you can run or how much weight you can lift, but more importantly, how well you can live your life in a positive manner. We have always known the mind is powerful, but very few have really tested it. Due to a lack of focus and discipline, it still remains our weakest link, when it comes to living life to the full. It is only with a fit, healthy and positive mind, free of of the negative impact of fear, insecurity, confusion and self doubt, that you can begin to achieve your true potential. The body on the other hand, as long as we take good care of it, is capable of incredible things, without any conscious thought. Blood circulation, hormonal balance, levels of salts and minerals, temperature, all are maintained by the body effortlessly. It is capable of creating new life. Fitness must start in the mind, with the development of awareness, discipline, understanding and will power. With respect for the self and the body. When the mind and body are able to work together, without conflict, we are capable of genius in every aspect of our lives. On having healthy food, he revealed, ”picking good food for your diet is very important and I pay attention to what and how much I am eating.”

Further, he added that he loves to break his entire day’s meal in smaller portions to keep his body energetic and full all day long. As he visits the gym multiple times a day, this meal plannings help him to maintain a healthy food cycle throughout the day. When asked about how he keeps himself so much disciplined, he answered, ”When you love doing something, discipline comes from within.”

When asked about his favorite activity, he said that he prefers an endurance type of activity as they help in boosting stamina and also help in keeping the mind active. Swimming, trekking, running are some of his favorite endurance types of activities. He recommends all to play games that involve full-body exercise.

For sure, to maintain a body like Milind takes a lot of efforts and only a few can achieve results like him. Talking about his professional like, he recently launched his book called ‘Made In India’.
